The European Longitudinal Study of Pregnancy and Childhood (ELSPAC) is a unique international project studying children since the prenatal period untill their adulthood. A psychological part of the project - individual psychological assessments of children (now adolescent) - is conducted by the Institute for Research on Children, Youth and Family at the Faculty of Social Studies. A medical part of the study is conducted by the Department of Preventive and Social Pediatric at the Faculty of Medicíně at the Masaryk University. This project involves approximately 600 juvenile people and their families. The research focuses on intellectual, social and emotional development of a child and search for connection among physical, psychological a social development. It focuses also on relationships within the family as perceived by both the children and their parents, influence of a school and peer groups on a child and other developmental characteristics. The research aims to find out which biological, social, and psychological conditions have an effect on child development and how to identify potencial risks. The research report suggests methods of effective prevention and solutions for problems that children and adolescents face in their lives. |
