Annotation This paper is divided into three parts, all of them react on new trends of demographic, particularly reproductive behavior from different points of view. First part focuses mainly on young generation′s attitudes towards marriage and parenthood and plans for future life (with emphasis on family and work plans). Two model strategies are identified here: „a traditional strategy“ (prevailing) stressing family and marriage, and „an alternative strategy“ based on tolerance of cohabitation and emphasis on professional career. Second part of the research monitors different opinions on population development in the Czech Republic at the background of demographic statistics and international comparison. In this context different family (and for-family) policy options and their possible desirable and non-intended effects are discussed. As the housing represents an important condition of young families′ independente a special attention is paid to the problem in the last part of this paper The possibilities, advantages and disadvantages of state family policy intervention are also discussed.
