Annotation	This paper is first part of a final report from the research project „Family 2001“ which was carried out by The Research Institute for Labour and Social Affairs. Findings of the research concern only young generation at the age of 18-30 years. The main topics of the research were a statut of family within life preferences of young people, family conception of young generation, economic situation and role of a state, extended family and young families. Last chapter was focused on demographic development as an essential component of studies about the Czech family.
