Annotation	This research is a part of wide research project called „harmonization of family and work-today´s possibilities and their reflexion among young generation of parents“, which was carried out by the Department for Family Policy at the Research Institute for Labour and Social Affairs in 2004-2005. Difficulties with harmonization of work sphere and domestic duties influence significantly a low birth rate and delay in establishing family. The research is focused on individual context of parenthood (length of studies, start of independent household, accession to labour market) and employs a microcontextual analytical approach. This perspective offers an individual view on particular generations that differ each other in the run of life periods and timing of life events. The research deals with several issues such as a passage to parenthood, changes in reproductive behavior in the Czech Republic in 1990′s, young people′s attitudes toward children and family, changes in value orientation, conception of life carreer and timing of selected life events. A detailed inquiry about reproduction and timing of life events of Czech women born in the period 1952-1982 constitutes the core of the research report. The research is aimed at individual context of parenthood on one hand and an examination of generational differences according to education, family background of parents on the other hand.
