Reality of „reality show“ - psychological analysis

| Annotation | A psychological analysis of „reality shows“ focused on influences of these Tv programs on children and youth and tried to ellucidate reasons for its high ratings. The analysis of two reality show „Vyvolení“ ( TV Prima) and „Big Brother“ (TV NOVA) was carried out in the context of Czech dominant culture. The study focused on ways of participants′ selection, their motivations and participation, their social isolation and deprivation during in a course of the program. Furthemore, the research focused on criterias of human types selection, arrangement of environment, problem of presentation of intimacy and its misuse. Authors of the analysis came to a conclusion that these programs are not suitable for public full-area broadcasting. By its profile, course and single moments, these programs threaten not only children and youth but also the culture itself. According to authors, negation and destruction of moral values and ideals, manifestations of decay and failure of human relations, unrepresentative selection of participants, implications of social deprivation and lack of privacy are some of the main negative aspects of the reality show. The study adverts to a danger of today´s Media that shifts values beyond boarders defined by moral authorities. |
