Annotation | The subject of this research project is a sociological study of parenthood after the marital dissolution in the Czech Republic as it is experienced and handled on one hand, by mothers who win a child custody and, on the other hand, fathers who loose day-to-day contact with their child (children). The study attempts to compare parent´s experience with divorce, it focuses on their socio-economic situation and relationship to their children, a performance of their parental role and their parental identity. Another part of the research is an analysis of objective and institutional conditions of motherhood and fatherhood after divorce in the contemporary Czech society. The project is based on a large qualitative study (semi-standardised interviews with fathers and mothers), secondary analysis of quantitative data and direct observation.Main objective of the project is to reveal difficulties that Czech mothers and fathers encounter after being divorced and to analyse their reactions and stategies to/in this situation. |
