Sources of information and criteria in the course of choice of leisure time activities

Annotation	This quantitative research attempts to collect information about leisure time activities for children at the age of 6-15. It focuses on question how parents choose leisure time activities for their children, how is this choice influenced by their social status, demographic characteristics and value orientation. The primary aim of this research is to find out according to which criteria and information parents choose leisure time activities for their children, where they get in touch with this information and which are relevant for them. The research covered a sample of 600 parents coming from different corners of the Czech Republic. The findings showed that different strategies in choosing leisure-time activities are not only determinated by parent´s level of education but also by their social and demographic position. The research also showed that more than 80% of children at the age of 6-15 years attend regularly at least one leisure time facility, and 79% of them wish to do that.
