Cognitive and noncognitive components of pupil's self-regulated learning process

Annotation	The present dissertation thesis deals with problems of pupils´ self-regulated learning process as a ground for life-long learning process development. It outlines the current models of self-regulated learning processes and explains theoretical approaches on which these models are based. The dissertation explains relations between cognitive and noncognitive components of self-regulated learning, and between internal and external factors, which play an important role in self-regulated learning process development. It provides selected programmes of self-regulated learning process development and possibilities of its degree measurement. Based on the definition of theoretical grounds of the problems solved, the dissertation presents empirical research of self-regulated learning of elementary school children. It specifies the degree of individual components of self-regulated learning process of such pupils and analyzes differences in their level based on sex, age, school results and performance in solving mathematics word problems. The dissertation thesis also explains which self-regulation strategy is a key predictor of pupils´ motivation and verifies the influence of metacognitive-oriented learning upon development of cognitive, reading skills of fourth-year elementary school children.
