The submitted thesis aims to present a comprehensive overview of the issue of a spatial imagination of students in the learning process. In the introductory part of the thesis we deal with the psychological and anatomical basis of such ability, the evolution of a cognitive process and the essence of perception of a space. In the second part of the thesis we describe the research survey conducted among the students of the second cycle of primary schools and of grammar schools. Before conducting the research survey a didactical test of a spatial imagination was prepared. Upon processing the collected data we drew a preliminary conclusion that gender of students does not affect their level of a spatial imagination, neither does the laterality of respondents. On the contrary, we were able to prove the statistically significant differences between groups of students with excellent overall marks in math and physics contrasted to those with excellent overall marks in Czech or English. The last part of the thesis offers concrete proposals for activities, tasks and approaches that can be applied throughout most of the classes from the beginning of primary school attendance. |
