Annotation | A non-existence of regulation related to volunteering, voluntary activities and a definion of the status of a volunteer in Czech Republic led to many difficulties for both Czech and foreign volunteers participating in home project. The situation has changed in 2001, which was the International year of volunteers. Czech government stated its support to volunteerism and launched a grant program supporting the volunteerism and as well as a law concerning the voluntary work was created. In the frame of this conception, an inquiry about volunteering among secondary school students in Praque was carried out by National Children and Youth Institute. The representative research which was carried out in May and June 2001 adressed 928 respondents at the age of 15-24 from the whole Czech Republic. Results of this research are presented in this research report. The questions focused on young people´s experience with volunteering, their interest and motivation in this field. Questions attempted to find out what type of volunteering is prefered by the youth and what exactly the youth expect and what are their ideas about volunteering home and abroad. |
