The dissertation deals with the topic of children´s composing in the music education in connection with the possibility to open up children to the contemporary music. It presents the topic from different points of view, it reflects its development from the mid 1960´s to the present in the foreign countries and in the Czech Republic (former Czechoslovakia), it analyses different approaches
and conceptions, and also evaluates its contributions. At the same time it introduces for the first time in the Czech background a comprehensive view of the foreign creative music conceptions that work with the elements of classroom composing. The dissertation concretizes the link between contemporary music and the creative work of children on example of minimal music. Minimalism distinguishes itself by a number of compositional features in the work with the musical material which could be suitable for the work of children on their own creative projects. This dissertation analysis some of these projects and explores how minimalist compositional techniques are used in praxis.
