Tactile Sign Language in Communication of Children with Deafblindness

Annotation	The thesis deals with the topic of tactile sign language in communication of children with dual disability of sight and hearing. Tactile sign language represents one possible form of communication of deafblind children. Theoretical part summarises the information about the area of deafblindness and different communication forms used by deafblind persons including tactile sign language. The chapter about tactile sign language describes at first sign language as a basis for its tactile form. The last chapter of the theoretical part is devoted to the issue of space and movement in space as important components of tactile sign language and prerequisite for its acquisition by deafblind children. The practical part of the thesis relies on information included in theoretical part. It describes the ability of three groups of respondents (children with severe visual impairment, children with severe hearing impairment and deafblind children) to articulate chosen types of movements in neutral space in front of the body. The research is also aimed at depiction of possible problems that can make the articulation of movements in the space more difficult. Concerning the methodology of the research the method of grounded theory was chosen and acquired data were analysed via open coding and description of participated observation of respondents. On the basis of the research results were formulated the conclusions and consequently proposed the recommendations for use in practice.
