Annotation This research report focuses on issues of TV influence on children and youth. The main research question is how TV influences children and youth and what patterns, norms and values TV transmits? Opinions linked to drug issues were also observed. Several independent researches are involved in this researc report: an expert inquiry in which 40 experts from different fields were interviewed; a research among policemen – 400 of them were interviewed; a research on general population in Prague with 600standardized interviews , and also an analysis of other representative samples from Czech Republic – 800 respondents from 1993 and 1100 from 1996. Objectives of the research is to describe the influence of TV on youth in general, the influence of particular TV channels, to define specifics of media behavior of normal young population and socially handicapped youth (including drug addicts), to map out the attitudes to drugs among general population and in particular age groups and social groups and to propose recommendation for Media concerning drug issues and socially deviant behavior.
