Long Way - help for parents who survived their children

Annotation This diploma thesis is focused on the topic of loosing child and how parents deal with this loss. Thesis is divided into two parts – theory and practise. In the theoretical part are main concepts defined. These main concepts are connected to the topic of the thesis. More deeply is the thesis focused on general crisis situation, death of a child as a traumatic incident for parents and reactions that follows. The topic of children´s death in history and the process of mourning is involved. Last two chapters describe possibilities how to help parents in this situation – from the crisis intervention point of view and from the perspective of therapy. Practise part describes methodology and pursuance of the qualitative research, which was focused on the help for parents, whose child died. Its result is analysis of interview with parents with the experience of the loss of their child. This analysis describes what helped parents the most, when they lost their child and what harmed them the most. It is also said, what kind of opportunities for their lives arosed from this experience and on the other hand what kind of threats occured.
