Annotation The diploma thesis deals with a substitute care for the children with a focus on the children´s homes, which in this context are understood as an alternative institutional care, especially for Roma children. The theoretical part provides a comprehensive picture of characterizing the care of vulnerable children. The children can´t grow up in their biological family because of the serious reasons. With regard to the topic of the diploma thesis, some chapters discuss the issue of Roma children and their placement in the children´s homes in more details. The empirical part examines and analyzes the situation of Roma children and their placement in the children´s homes. For these purposes was elected a qualitative research design. A method of interviewing was used for the data collection. The grounded theory was used as a frame for the data analysis.
