Burnout syndrome among secondary school teachers

Annotation This diploma thesis deals with the issue of burnout syndrome among high school teachers. In the theoretical part there are explained basic terms related to the topic of this thesis: burnout, reasons of burnout, prevention, stress, a teacher. For the research part there was used a questionnaire about individual stress symptoms in the teaching profession. (Hennig, Keller, 1996). Seven high schools in České Budějovice took part in this survey. Results showed that those teachers were on the border between low and increased susceptibility to stress. It was also proved that there is a connection between susceptibility to stress and gender – more stressprone are men. Concerning the length of experience it was found out that there is a connection between the length of experience and overall prone to stress and burnout.
