Annotation The aim of this diploma thesis is to show the procedures following in the first September week in the first classes in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part focuses on the school maturity and readiness of a child for school. It clears its overall development and education in pre-primary time. To enrich the theoretical part there are also several interesting recommendations and advice not only for teachers and parents but also for future first class pupils themselves. The practical part discovers, on the basis of a quantitative research (a questionaire survey), the first week of education in the first class. It maps the first day content, teaching aids and equipment, the number and procedures of the lessons in the first week. In addition to the practical part, there are stated suggestions for the first school week of compulsory attendance in various types of schools.
