Research type monograph
Annotation The publication deals with the question of how European states financially support families with children and how this support is reflected in the standard of living of different types of families and how the interplay of the social system and conditions helps parents to take care of their families. Next, the question of how the parents themselves have a view of the state's responsibilities and how the grandparents enter into the help with children is discussed. Thus, the functioning of the system of benefits and taxes and the situation on the labor market as well as the attitudes of parents and intergenerational assistance are mapped. The book focuses on the situation in the Czech Republic with an emphasis on comparison with other countries of Central and Eastern Europe and documents the fundamental differences in the social systems of these countries.
