Annotation | This research was carried out by the Children and Youth Institute of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport in 1999. It focused on questions concerning social exclusion of rural youth and a situation of young women in society. The research sample consisted of 1200 young people at the age of 19-24 coming from five regions in the Czech Republic. Concerning those two observed social groups, only an existence of particular discriminatory aspects was proved, exclusive aspects were not found. Regarding differences between towns and countryside no important differences in young people’s opportunities were found in most observed spheres. The questions concerning rural youth focused on possibilities of their occupation, shopping, transport, and housing facilities, cultural and social enjoyment, possibilities of education and spending free time in the nature. The second part of the research concerned a situation of women in the society focused on problems of a family (roles of parents, decision making, division of labour), intergender differencies in perception of personality traits, occupation of a woman in the society, and discrimination of women. |
