Annotation This master thesis focuses on problems of parenthood of intelectually gifted children. At theoretical level (chapter 2) issues such as history of talented children, definition of talent and gift, personal characteristics of gifted children and their indentification are treated. Theoretical part focuses also on problems of parenthood, attitude of parents towards their gifted children, asynchronous development of gifted children and its impacts on the family and whole society. The third and fourth chapter concerns the research project, its realisation, results and suggestions for further examination of the problem. The objective of the qualitative research is to approach a situation of parents of gifted children and show aspects of their individual experience. By drawing on common themes that emerged during structured interviews with parents bringing up gifted children, the research attempts to specify set of their common problems. The research is based on detailed semi-structured interviews with parents. Inspite of a small size of a given sample, the research brings many interesting insights that would serve as a point of support for psychologists and pedagogues.
