Annotation	This research is a part of the project „ Keys for Life“ which is concerned with system support of leisure time activities of children and youth in the sphere of non-formal education. The main objectif of this full-area quantitative research, in which 1061 informants participated, was to map awareness and participation of youth (at the age 15 -26) in the social and political process in the Czech republic. First part of the research concerned the social and political awareness of the youth and focused on such questions as: Which media the youth prefers? What is the level of IT knowledge and competences of youth? What are the main areas/ topics the youth are interested in? Second part of the research concerned the problem of participation of the youth in social and political process and focused on questions such as: How the youth actively participates? What are the differences between particular regions and socio-economic groups of informants? What influences the level of their participation and what are motivations of youth to participate in „public affairs“? According to the results produced by the research, an interest of youth in public process is level-low. The youth are rather interested in areas they are immediately concerned with (such as school). More than half of the respondents claimed not to be well informed about the possibilities of participation. At the same time, more than half of the respondents claimed not to be interested in being informed. The university students, college student and those who live with graduated parents displayed the maximum of interest in social and political participation and awareness.
