Annotation The dissertation has the character of a study describing the updating of the phenomenon of childhood in art. The relatively extensive look at the issues brings succinct starting points from individual, related fields: sociology, pedagogy, psychology and arts pedagogy. Following on these is concrete research of the issue in art. The research section reflects the broad possibilities of transformation in childhood from several perspectives. The intention of the dissertation is to justify childhood as a source of inspiration in art and the finding of relevant conclusions, applicable in arts pedagogy. The work set as its goal to determine, describe and evaluate the meaning of childhood in the context of the work of Czech artists in period of the turn of the century. Childhood is viewed as a stable ideological or formal platform, from which a relatively rich scale of expressive, individually themed artistic forms can be drawn.
