This dissertation deals with issues of metacognition in a process of solving mathematical word problems for elementary school children. First of all it describes process of metacognition and it defines chosen internal and external factors that are very important for the development of metacognition. It mentions connection between metacognition and self- regulated learning. It describes the difference between „off-line“ and „on-line“ metacogniton. It deals with contextual conditions of metacognition in mathematics, explains the influence of metacognition for successful solving of word math problems and describes particularity of metacognition of elementary school children. On the basis of the definition of examined theoretical issues it presents empirical research of metacognitive learning process of elementary school children focused on finding the level of „off-line“ metacognition in connection with success rate of routine nad non-routine word math problems in mathematics and their causal attribution. It verifies differences in success rate in mathematics, causal attribution and „off-line“ metacognition according to type of school (urban or village type), gender, school success (marks in matematics), popularity of matematics and popularity of word math problems. |
