Annotation The aim this thesis is to identify the reasons that lead parents to choose a regular school or school choice especially for pupils with special educational needs. The first chapter deals with the definition of the term progressive muscle disease. The second chapter deals with special educational needs and possibilities of support in the educational process, describes the laws on education and educational facilities for children with disabilities in our country. The third chapter describes the family as a decisive factor when selecting a school and identifies factors affecting the choice of parents. The fourth chapter is devoted to the research investigation. Its aim is to determine what factors and how they influence parents when deciding on the future of education.
