The Segregation of the Roma children in the Czech Educational System

Annotation The submitted bachelor thesis aims to summarize the knowledge of available relevant researches comparing the education chances of the Roma children with their non-Roma peers and on the basis of these knowledge determine, if the segregation of the Roma children in the Czech Educational System exists. The first part defines the concept of segregation, describes the education of the Roma in the Czech Republic and characterizes the issue of unequal opportunities in education. The second part focuses on the analysis of the studies and researches that took place in the Czech Republic. These researches suggests that the segregation of Romani children in the Czech education system occurs Roma children achieve lower education compared with children from the majority population often forfeited, they are tracked into specialized primary school attendance and terminated earlier than in the final year.
