Annotation This study provides a comprehensive overview of the areas of empirical research of preschool education in the Czech Republic in 2000-2010. The authors analyze the surveys that were in the period published in professional journals and relevant textbooks. The main objective of this paper is to analyze the themes that research in early childhood education addressed, and summarize the main findings brought. It turns out that the representation of empirical research is the largest in the areas of kindergarten teacher and tertiary education kindergarten teachers. It shows that the analyzed results of studies do not cover all the areas that the OECD recommended monitor. From this survey study can be still seen that with the increasing number of faculties of education responsible for the training of nursery school teachers also increases the number of empirical investigation.
