Annotation | The aim of this study was to shed light on how parents perceive their child's transition from primary to lower secondary education. The theoretical part of this thesis describes the Czech education system between the primary and secondary level and the education market. It deals with the types of transitions to lower secondary and approaching the mechanisms by which parents are able to influence the child's educational career. The practical part is focused on the following research questions: How parents perceive their children transfer to lower secondary? What reasons influence parents when planning a child's educational career? Which actors are involved in decision-making when planning educational career of the child? It turned out that children prior to lower secondary parents have certain expectations, both positive and negative. Another key finding was that parents who choose to register a child at grammar school, was crucial that the child was given space to develop talent and to be accepted to college. The results also can unequivocally confirm that the demands made on the grammar school are higher than in elementary school. |
