The importance of alternative education in the Czech education system

Annotation The theory part of the diploma recaps development of the Czech education system since 1989. This part also summarizes the concept of alternative education and Waldorf School as one of possible alternatives. The research part of the diploma analyses the project „Nultý ročník“ which has been realized by Waldorf School Olomouc. This part compares intentions of the school with expectations of parents, evaluates benefits of the project, and defines recommendations for an improvement. The objective of the research part was to discover added value of the project „Nultý ročník“ which was proved as significant. All interviewees confirmed uniformly - the project fulfilled their original expectations. The objective of the research is to identify an additional value of the project „Nultý ročník“. All interviewees confirmed uniformly - the project fulfilled their original expectations. Their satisfaction was proved by clear recommendations to leverage the project „Nultý ročník“ in the future of Waldorf School Olomouc as well as in other Waldorf Schools in the Czech Republic. The project „Nultý ročník“ achieves common interests of the school and parents. These interests are motivated by children’s needs which are in the centre of interest for both - school and parents. In a case of acceptance of the recommendations or finalizing of the project into a form of complex and compact document, the school can leverage it to easily address potential demand from other Waldorf schools as well as from the public. It can result as an increase of popularity of the project and last but not least it can help to boost the alternative education which is not still so popular.
