Annotation This thesis deals with Attitudes of parents of elementary school pupils towards homework. The thesis has three parts: the first part deals with relevant theory necessary for understanding of the topic. The author describe what a homework is and its functions. Next, she deals with parental help with homework (i. e. relations between school and the family, parent's opinions on homework and their role in their children's homework). Theory is the key for subsequent analysis of data about parent's attitudes towards homework. The second part of the thesis aims at description of the methodology of quantitative research and the last part contains the analysis of the collected data. The author describes what are the opinions of parents are about what a homework is and how their ideas about helping their children with homework differs. She also introduces the parent's opinions on the function of homework and their competency in helping with their children's homework.
