Teaching the topic of homosexuality and homophobia prevention in upper primary school

Annotation Diploma thesis discusses the importance of teaching these subjects in primary school. The theoretical part deals with the human psychosexual development. Then the author describes homosexuality in terms of its occurrence in the population, etiology, issues of self-acceptance and homosexual partnership and parenthood. A separate chapter is the issue of homophobia. In the practical part of the thesis is examination of the content topic of homosexuality in textbooks for secondary schools. It was found that the subject is in textbooks, at least to a small extent and contained information are relatively actual. For sufficient knowledge of the pupils is needed to make teacher education more engaged in homosexuality. Teachers can help a preventive program, which is part of the practical part of the thesis. Using an experiential method pupils learned about homosexuality and they are led to tolerance and natural rejection of violence and discrimination.
