Hejny method of teaching mathematics and its social aspect

Annotation The bachelor thesis is trying to find an overlap of the method beyond the area of mathematical knowladge and abilities. In the theoretical part the author describes constructivism its summarized history and its influence on pedagogy. Further the theoretical part describes Hejny method, an alternative method of teaching mathematics which is considerably affected by the influence of constructivism on pedagogy. In the research part the author investigates the key themes that emerged from the theoretical part. The process of the research was exploratory, structured interview with openended questions was used for data gathering and the framework analysis was used for the data analysis. By probing the key themes the author tried to find links between the aplication of Hejny method principles in practise and the social aspects in the developement of the pupil. The author then reflects on the options of the further research.
