The theme of the submitted doctoral dissertation is the analysis of theory which conceives environmental education as the complex of three dimensions (cognitive, related to attitudes and related to conduct). The aim of the thesis is to find out whether there exists a relationship among the constructs belonging to one of the mentioned dimensions (knowledge, attitudes and conduct of lower secondary school pupils). In the theoretical part of the thesis every dimension of environmental education is characterised, first the one related to attitudes, then the cognitive one and finally the one related to conduct. In the empirical part of the thesis the author attempts to grasp and specify the constructs of attitudes, knowledge and conduct in environmental field as variables. Six simple research hypotheses are formulated and then tested at a sample of pupils of 8th and 9th grade of basic school. The most extensive part of the thesis called “Research results“deals with the data description and testing of hypotheses by means of correlation analysis. |
