Fear and anxiety at school

Annotation The aim of this diploma thesis is to discover the connection between student´s selfconfidence and self-esteem and achievement motivation and fear and anxiety at school. This diploma thesis describes the main terms such as fear, anxiety, emotion, function of emotion, the issue of fear and anxiety at school, achievement motivation and active and passive fear. In the practical part there are two types of questionnaires: SPAS questionnaire which measures student´s self-confidence and self-esteem and LMG questionnaire which measures positive and negative motivation. We come to a conclusion that fear, self-confidence and self-esteem have fundamental impact on student´s performance and achievement motivation. Passive fear leads to lower self-esteem and self-confidence and anxiety. Students who are anxious have lower self-esteem and they experience stronger passive fear unlike students without anxiety.
