Annotation The diploma thesis deals the issue of homework, especially using homework in teaching elementary reading and writing. The theoretical part summarizes the current knowledge about educating at elementary schools, it describes the structure of the educational process and defines homework as a teaching method and form. A chapter about teaching reading and writing at elementary schools is also included. The aim of the thesis is to find out teachers’ opinions on homework as well as the forms of homework in elementary reading and writing. In the practical part of the thesis the results of the research are described and evaluated. The research was carried out on teachers of first to third years of primary school. As a method of the research a questionnaire was used. The questionnaire was completed by personalised questions. Its aim was to get answers to predefined research questions.
