Annotation This thesis focuses on issues related to the beginning of mandatory school attendance by children with communication disorders. The whole text ist divided into four chapters, the first three of which, drawing from contemporary professional literature, are theoretical. These three chapters form a basis for the last part of this thesis, which deals with the results of author's own quantitative empiric research. The aim of this research was to determine the extent of the incidence of communication disorders in first graders at selected grammar schools. 36 first grade teachers (with a total of 586 pupils), have contributed to the survey. The results have been analyzed, processed into charts and tables and subsequently interpreted.
